This department has the following sections with different foci of activity (excerpts):

• Special Clinical Chemistry and Hemostaseology with numerous parameters, special electrophoreses and extensive coagulation diagnostics;
• Allergy Diagnostics with more than 600 allergens on the Pharmacia Cap 1000 System;
• Toxicology with modern analyzers for the determination of trace elements, parameters relevant for monitoring drugs of abuse, and in particular confirmation of positive drug results;
• HPLC Section for the technically very complicated determination of many drugs, Vitamins, hormones and their metabolites, e.g. catecholamines;
• Section for Metabolic Disorders: analyses of amino acids, organic acids, long-chain fatty acids and, in addition, a large number of various medicaments. HPLC Systems as well as modern Tandem-MS analyzers are used.
• Many analytical methods have been developed in the sections themselves.
