Types of wound swabs and tissue specimens

A distinction is made between closed-space infections, open wounds, fistula openings and phlegmonous processes. Use a shaft swab with transport medium for sampling. Special swabs are needed for molecular diagnostics and viral culture. Depending on the infection site (closed wound, open wound, fistula tracts or phlegmonous processes), you may additionally need syringes with a closure cone without a cannula, blood culture bottles as a transport medium and sterile tubes for secretions (without additives).
